Halloween at the Park District

Every year we go to the Park District for their Halloween festivities. They usually have games, hayrides, moonwalks, and a haunted maze. The evening ends with a costume contest. Megan showed up about 10 minutes before the contest; she was out trick or treating again with Sofie, one of her friends from school.

This year, the twins took first place for their age category in the costume contest and Megan also took first for hers. Max was a little disapointed that he didn't win anything for his. We took him to McDonalds afterwards and he got a happy meal, nobody else. He was all better after that. :)

Candy Candy and more Candy

Max and Megan both had their school Halloween parties today. They both actually got to wear their costumes, too. I spent all day yesterday making cupcakes for both of their classes. I have seen enough orange frosting for one year! I can't believe how much candy these children brought home, either. Max's class went over to the retirement home and they loaded all the little kids up. Megan brought home a bunch from her class, too. If anyone needs or wants candy, you know where to find us!! Keira loves sorting all the candy out. Once I get some pics of Megan's party from school, I will post them. Here is a pic of the pumpkin Max made at school.

Pumpkin Decorating

We finally found some time to carve our pumpkins. This was the first night in like 2 weeks that we were all home and had nothing going on.
We spread out the sheets and the big kiddies picked their patterns out of the books. Daddy cut the tops off, Max and Megan cleaned out the guts and seeds, Mommy scraped the insides down and Connor and Keira slept. :)
Megan picked Dr. Death, Max chose Mr. Peepers, and Bill picked an angry pumpkin face.

Trick or Treating, take 2

Our local mall, Gurnee Mills, was doing trick or treating on Sunday night. We knew we already needed to go out there to pick up a few things, so we costumed the kiddies again, and off we went. We brought along Megan's friend Haley to join us. A lot of people thought the twins were either two cows or they looked like puppies. I guess I should have unleashed Connor and let him gallop around.

Go horsey Go

Connor was showing off his moves in his costume. The little horsey has become quite mobile lately. He is into everything and is pulling himself up on whatever he can get his hands on. Keira on the other hand, is starting to inch worm across the room. She started sitting up by herself today and is finally balancing herself enough, so she doesnt always fall flat on her face. They are getting so big and so fun!

Halloween Party

Megan was invited to a Halloween Monster Bash for one of the girls in her class. It was at the same time as trick or treating today and she wanted to go to the party. It was a great party. They played games, danced and ran around like little freaks. It was in a "haunted" barn (garage). It was decorated with lots of scary things and they had lots of yummy food. I wish I would have remembered to grab my camera, because there were so many cool costumes that the kids in her class were wearing. Megan had so much fun playing with all her girlfriends, that she went home with one of the girls for a evening playdate.

Trick or Treating

We bundled up the kiddies and put on their costumes and went downtown for the annual Mayor's Safe Walk for some candy. Keira was a cow, Connor was a horse, Max was Spiderman, and Megan was a Gothy, Spidery, Princess type thingy. It was cloudy and about 53 degrees, and quite windy.

A house of sick

It all started with a slight runny nose, then a fever, then a cough. Next thing you know, everyone has it! (Except Megan) Connor's fever kept him awake for most of the night and his poor little nose kept running the next day. By the next evening, he still had the high fever, so I took him in to the acute care center for a check up at midnight. They did some chest x-rays on him, to make sure he didn't have any fluid in his lungs and they checked out his ears really good for an infection. After a complete checking out, he was sent home with just a cold. Next one to get it was Max and he is still got a cough from it. Mommy and Daddy jumped in next with the same fever, nose runnings and now coughing. Then just as we were all feeling better, Keira decided she wanted some attention too!! Poor thing!! Now we are just counting the days until Megan gets it..

Girl Scout Halloween Party

Tonight was Megan's Girl Scout Halloween Party. She dressed up in her devil/angel costume from last year, since this years costume wasnt completed yet. They all exchanged candy with one another and played games like Halloween twister. Here is a pic from her last year.

A Visit to the Pumpkin Farms

I cannot remember the last time we went to the pumpkin farm wearing shorts. It was a very comfortable 75 degrees. It was a tad bit windy, but the warm sun made up for it. First we drove to Kenosha, to Jerry Smith's Pumpkin Farm.

Jerry Smith's Pumpkin Farm

Here we got to watch a magic show, feed the animals, and enjoy all the painted pumpkin characters.
Max was picked out of the crowd to help assist the magician. I think his mind was blown away by the tricks.
After we were done with Jerry Smith's, we went over to Stiles Pumpkin Farm in Pleasant Prarie, since it was on the way home. It was here we got most of the kid pics, since it wasn't as busy.

Another day at the farm

While Megan and I were bowling and shopping for last minute touches for Halloween costumes, Bill and the other 15 kids went to the farm with Mingma and Papa. They spent the day visiting with Great Grandma, Cindy, Tina, and Nick.

Girl Scouts Bowling Thingy

Megan and I went to the Girl Scout Cosmic bowling outing today. We had about 9 of our troop girls show up and a good time was had by all. They bowled two games and Megan won the first one. I happened to be recording her one and only strike, which happened to be the only strike bowled by the troop. Way to go Megan!!!

Keira was giving us her best "Alien" impersonation this evening.
Connor on the other hand, was a happy little thing.

Trees

Who would have ever thought that trees would be an entertainment hazard? We were going to switch our satellite service over to Dish Network today because they had some promotional thingy going on that made it worth while. Well after the technician spent an hour on my roof, he had to call his manager to come to my house too. They both decided that my trees in the back yard are too tall and they block their HD satellite. I guess they'd better get their satellites a little bit higher in the sky. :)

It worked out in the end though; I called DirectTV (who we currently have) and they offered me a great retention deal to stay with them. So I guess I don't have to cut down my trees quite yet.

Max goes to a party

It was the first birthday party of the year for one of Max's school chums, Evan. The party was at the RecPlex in Kenosha. He said he had an awesome time. He got to swim, run around with his pals and mow on pizza and cheetos. He was in heaven.

Connor gets up

This evening, Connor decided to get a leg up on things. He first crawled over to the Bumbo seat and pulled himself up to a standing position, while holding on. He was quite excited about this new adventure. He then pulled up on the car seats. It won't be long before he will be jogging :)

Flower planting

Since Beth has run out of room in her yard to plant daylilies, we graciously give up some yard space each year for her run-offs. This year we inherited more than 50 different varieties and they got them all planted this weekend. Thank you again!! They look great when they bloom!

Walk-a-thon Fundraiser for School

Megan had her school walk-a-thon fundraiser today. Their team was called the Wildcats. They could dress up if they wanted to in some kind of cat outfit; we chose to just go with the face painting. They spent most of the day outside, in between taking a math test and a spelling test. It was a gorgeous day, the tempature was about 80ish and no rain. Here are some pictures that Cindy sent us that she took at the school.

Sleepy babies

Thought I would take some pictures of some sleepy babies. Sleepy time is a happy time.
Guess who is who.

Baby Time

The babies were fighting over today's mail. Connor got to it first, poor Keira can't get the mobility thing down yet. She knows she's a princess and has no intentions of going anywhere if she doesn't have to.

Max really does love his sister :)

I bought this shirt for Max yesterday, and he couldn't wait to wear it. He is just celebrating Halloween all month long. For those that can't read it, it says "My sister is a witch"
